When we convey ourselves to the person in front of us, we often try to convey our thoughts in an appropriate language, or we try to feel closer in a way we call empathy. Sometimes, the bond we want to establish with the other person becomes difficult. Empathy, one of the most powerful weapons of communication, is too important to be neutralized.

1) Spend more time with strangers.

In a study conducted on a Swiss group in 2015, they observed that when people start to spend time with people they do not know, they make more effort to communicate and positive feedback is higher. It has also been observed that they are more understanding when they communicate with their acquaintances afterwards.

2) Be stressed.

“How so?” you may ask. However, the opposites you create within yourself, like the attraction of opposite poles, will bring you closer to the things you are far away from. Being stressed causes you to worry more about what you can or cannot do. Empathy also takes effort. The more you try, the closer the empathy will be to you.

3) Meet more people.

In the research conducted by McGill University, the reactions of our sensory receptors on pain have been observed. Subjects were asked to dip their friends’ arms in cold water. Although they shared the pain of their friends, people found their own pain higher, but they could also feel the pain felt by their friends.
It is important to be open to good and bad experiences in order to increase the feeling of empathy. As long as you have a high level of empathy towards your family, environment or friends, their approach to you will be different.
