1) Beyazıt State Library (Beyazıt)

Beyazıt State Library has the distinction of being the first library established by the state in Turkey. The first foundations were laid in 1884 as two historical buildings facing Beyazıt, across Beyazıt and Sahaflar Street. It is rooted in history as well as with its works. It contains nearly a million documents, half of which are books. At the same time, it promises a quiet and peaceful working environment with its spacious and large study rooms. 2) İBB Atatürk Library (Taksim)

The foundations of this library, which was established in the first days of our republican history, were laid by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. This library is open to all individuals as well as individuals who conduct research on specific topics. In this library, which has nearly 50 thousand resources, you can find albums, atlas, manuscripts, newspapers, postcards and works belonging to Atatürk and Istanbul. Before the pandemic, the library was in service between 08:30 and 22:00.

4) Süleymaniye Manuscripts Library (Fatih)

In addition to historical books for more than 100 years, you can encounter many works in the fields of medicine, chemistry and botany. Because many sources in Istanbul have been brought together in this library. You can also find digital copies of manuscripts in this library. The library, adorned with historical textures, was formed by the meeting of two madrasahs at one point. It takes its name from the foundation laid at the same time as the Süleymaniye Complex, which was established in 1557 during the reign of Suleiman the Magnificent. You can also find works made with arts such as calligraphy and illumination, befitting such an old history.

5) Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar Literature Museum Library (Gülhane)

The library, from the bar of belongings and works related to Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar, after which it is named, also brings together the objects and works of our other authors with the visitors. 6) Center of Islamic Studies (Üsküdar)

There are 4 thousand periodicals in this library, which has close to 295,000 books. It hosts the works of important names such as Orhan Şahin Gökyay and Yavuz Argıt. It is one of the places frequented by undergraduate students as well as doctoral students.

7) Women’s Works Library and Information Center Foundation (Balat)

Assoc. Dr. Füsun Akatlı, Prof. Dr. Jale Baysal, Aslı Davaz, Assoc. Dr. Şirin Tekeli and Füsun Yaraş laid the foundations of this library in 1990 in Balat. The fact that this library is the meeting point of the works written by women in Turkey and the works written about women is of different importance. At the same time, this library is very rich in content. Over 12.000 books find their place in this library.

In this way, everyone can benefit from the library. This library, which is on the metrobus route for transportation, is next to the Panorama 1453 Museum.
