If you think that a professional passport photo will not be necessary in your career, you are wrong. Blurred and inappropriate profile photos, or worse, no photos at all will set you back in the hiring process. After all, how can someone trust you if you don’t have a single clean photo?
A nice, clean passport photo will come in handy in many other places. E.g;
• Your e-mail account
• LinkedIn
• Twitter, Facebook, Instagram
• Your personal website or portfolio
Step 1 : Choose a shirt you can trust yourself. Avoid patterns, things that are too seasonal, and anything you wear to a party.
Step 2 : Grab the newest phone you can find, even if it’s for a day, and a friend.
Step 3: Find a plain but ideally interesting backdrop. For example, a brightly painted wall. Avoid posing in front of windows or against busy backgrounds (like a city street), unless you’re a lighting and photo editing expert.
Step 4: Smile and take the photo. Then do it again. Take a bunch of photos so choose the one you like best.
Step 5: Save and use in any environment.
Of course, you can take the necessary steps to make your photo even more beautiful by using a good camera, using photoshop or working with a photographer. But whatever you do, make sure you have one on hand and update it every two years.
