Explanations for events framed as certain were longer, contained a higher proportion of concrete episodic reasons, and were expressed in the past tense. The active ingredient is not time travel. It is certainty. That correction is not academic housekeeping: it tells you that a pre-mortem run as “what might go wrong” is running without its engine, and a pre-mortem run as “it failed, write the obituary” is running with it.
