The most popular DJs gained huge followings and drew the biggest crowds at their events. During this period, MCs were on stage only to get the crowd excited about the DJ and announcing upcoming shows. If any rhyme was to be done by the MC, it was used to get the audience excited about how great the DJ was. In most cases the MC needed the DJ&#8217;s permission to get into the microphone.<\/p>\n<p>Then, as hip-hop culture developed, so did the MC&#8217;s duties and prestige. The variety of slang used in hip-hop language gave MC new meanings such as \u201cMicrophone Controller\u201d, \u201cMove the Crowd\u201d, \u201cMic Checker\u201d. As MCs were given more freedom on the microphone in front of the audience, MCs began to do more creative work with the opportunity to perform.<\/p>\n<p>When the groundbreaking hit song &#8220;Rapper&#8217;s Delight&#8221; was released in 1979, the focus of hip-hop music and culture shifted directly to the vocalist or MC. While the MC \/ emcee is often associated with the traditional aspects of hip-hop, which connects with the other three main elements of hip-hop culture: DJing, graffiti and breakdancing; meanwhile, the rapper is often seen as more in tune with the trends and demands of mainstream popular culture. This parallels the axiom that hip-hop is a living culture while rap is something one does. Stic.man, a hip-hop artist from the group Dead Prez, has this to say on the subject in his book The Art of Emceeing: \u201cA rapper is to a host what an average street fighter is to a trained martial artist. They are both fighters, but the degree and depth of their skills are very different.\u201d<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What-is-the-MC-suffix-that-comes-before-the-names\"><\/span>What is the MC suffix that comes before the names?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Scottish and Irish surname surnames often have the prefix Mac or Mc.<\/p>\n<p>When these surnames were first written, they were formed by adding the Welsh word mac, meaning son, to the father&#8217;s name of the original bearer of the surname. For example, the surname MacDougall literally means son of Dougal.<\/p>\n<p>In later times, these prefixes also began to be added to the profession or nickname of the bearer&#8217;s father. Mc is just an acronym for Mac, and both are actually abbreviated to the much less common M&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>As you can guess from this, the myth that the name Mac refers only to Scottish ancestors while the name Mc refers to Irish ancestors is not true. Similarly, the claim that Mac names are Protestant and Mc are Catholic isn&#8217;t in the least bit of truth. Both mean &#8220;son&#8221; in Welsh and can be used by either of the two origins or religions.<\/p>\n<p>Someone with the last name MacDonald has the same status as someone with the last name Smithson. Presumably both had ancestors named Donald or Smith. In the past, it was common to distinguish people with the same name by also referring to their father&#8217;s name, so such surnames became popular.<\/p>\n<p>You&#8217;ve probably noticed why names starting with Mc and Mac often contain a second capital letter. Since proper nouns are capitalized, you would write &#8220;son of Donald&#8221; rather than &#8220;son of donald&#8221;. Likewise, MacDonald is often used instead of Macdonald, but there are obviously exceptions. These surnames have existed for so long throughout history that they sometimes change, and some families forgo the second capital letter.<\/p>\n<p>Also, some Mc and Mac names include the father&#8217;s occupation, not the father&#8217;s name. Consider someone named John Macmaster. In this case, John&#8217;s father was a kind of master, hence John was referred to as &#8220;the master&#8217;s son.&#8221; Master is not a proper name and therefore does not need to be capitalized. However, there are different types of abbreviations between groups in motorcycling and these are used to distinguish them from each other.<br \/>\nMC \u2013 Motorcycle Club<br \/>\nMCC \u2013 MotorCycle Club<br \/>\nRC \u2013 Riding Club<br \/>\nOC\/OG \u2013 Owners Club \/ Owners Group<br \/>\nMG \u2013 Moto Groups<br \/>\nMC \u2013 Motorcycle Club<br \/>\nMCs are widely regarded as traditional motorcycle clubs, although historically they were founded several years later than MCCs. Such clubs usually have a very strong sense of tradition and do not change the way they do things or live. Most MCs have very demanding processes for new members that can even take several years to complete. In typical conversation, it&#8217;s the type of club people refer to when talking about &#8220;motorcycle clubs.&#8221;<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h3>MCC \u2013 MotorCycle Club<\/h3>\n<p>When MCCs first started, they were very different from what they are today. People in these clubs wore formal suits and were considered gentlemen (early 1900s). In later years, they became more like MCs in terms of club traditions and dressing style. Today, many (but not all) have strayed from MC traditions and have created a sort of intermediate division to bridge the huge gap between MCs and RCs.<\/p>\n<h3>RC \u2013 Riding Club<\/h3>\n<p>Riding clubs are often much less prescriptive about customs, requirements, and the type of motorcycle a member rides. Still, some members are committed to the traditions and procedures of MCCs or MCs. In most countries, only MCs are allowed to wear back patches, although RCs can also be seen wearing back patches where MCs are not available in that country, but this is not very common in the culture among motorcyclists.<\/p>\n<h3>MG \u2013 Moto Groups<\/h3>\n<p>Moto Bands are based on the same principles as RCs, but not tied to the traditions or practices you&#8217;d find at other motorcycle clubs. This form of club has been on the rise in Europe in recent years, but it is hardly seen as a true motorcycle club. It is rather a new generation motoring venture that is not limited to any one method of establishment. The most notable differences are the lack of structure within the groups and the style of clothing that will usually consist of hoodies with the group name printed on the back. These groups are smaller than other groups, usually only four to six members.<\/p>\n<h3>OC\/OG \u2013 Owners Club \/ Owners Group<\/h3>\n<p>These motor clubs do not actually have a specific name. OCs may have some rules that members must follow, but they generally don&#8217;t require you to attend weekly meetings or drive a certain amount of miles together each year. In essence, OCs are not clubs in the normal sense.
